UEFA kiest voor Brussel

Heet van de naald: de UEFA heeft zopas Brussel gekozen als gaststad voor Euro 2020. Het was spannend, want onze hoofdstad werd pas als voorlaatste bekendgemaakt. Naast drie groepswedstrijden wordt er ook een achtste finale afgewerkt.

De finale en halve finales vinden plaats in Londen (Wembley), de kwartfinales en drie groepswedstrijden in München (Duitsland, Allianz Arena), Baku (Azerbeidzjan, nieuw nationaal stadion, wordt momenteel gebouwd), Sint-Petersburg (Rusland, nieuw stadion Zenit, staat eveneens in de steigers) en Rome (Stadio Olimpico, thuisbasis van AS en Lazio Roma, al verhuist AS in de toekomst naar een nieuw stadion).

De overige achtste finales, plus telkens drie groepswedstrijden, worden gespeeld in Kopenhagen (Denemarken; Parkenstadion), Boekarest (Roemenië; nationaal stadion), de Amsterdam Arena (Nederland), Dublin (Ierland; Aviva Stadium, nationaal stadion), Bilbao (Spanje; nieuw San Mamés, Athletic Bilbao, pas geopend), Boedapest (Hongarije; nieuw nationaal stadion, moet nog gebouwd worden) en Glasgow (Schotland; Hampden Park, nationaal stadion).
