Hello everybody,
Sorry to write in English but I am French and I don't speak Dutch.
As a new member, I briefly introduce myself. I have been interested in stadiums for more than 30 years and have visited about 1000 so far. I also collect postcards and actually almost anything featuring stadiums. I especially like history about stadiums.
I quite like old Belgian stadiums. I have quite a few nice old postcards and I enclose some example.

Thanks for posting Steph9417. English is fine and I guess French is as well for some members including myself. This is a forum/website about Belgian stadiums after all and French is an official language and spoken by 40% of our population.

Do you collect real (paper) postcards or do you find them surfing the web? Many have been scanned and can be found online.

1000 stadium visits, that is quite a lot!

I guess most here are interested in stadium(s with a) history, something one will not find in modern generic arenas. But even here in Belgium we have come to a point where we can't stay behind any longer. The fact that old stadium infrastructure is still around is due to financial issues, politics, legislation, administration and protest groups. Unfortunately it's not always possible to keep using the old ones as they are and many clubs prefer a new ground over a renovated one. Fortunately we still have some old gems left here, like Stade Joseph Marien and Stade des Trois Tilleuls in Brussels, to mention just two. The Bosuil Stadium on the other hand will soon be completely unrecognizable from the viewpoint of your postcard.

I also think that many members are more interested in stadiums with a history, something not offered in more recent modern arenas. But, you're right, keeping the old venues is somewhat impossible, mainly for safety reasons.

I will post more cards from my collection. I also have some unindentified, presumably from Belgium, and I am going to post them too in case someone has information...
